Privacy Policy

The short version: Zukr collects nothing. Everything you scan stays on your device.

Effective date: June 2, 2026

In plain English

  • Zukr does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data.
  • Camera frames are processed entirely on your device and are never saved or uploaded.
  • No account, no sign-in, no tracking — ever.
  • Purchases are handled by Apple. Zukr never sees your payment information.

1. Overview

Zukr ("the app", "we", "us") is a sugar-ingredient scanner for iPhone. It is built with a privacy-first architecture: all text recognition and ingredient matching runs locally on your device using Apple's Vision framework. The app has no backend server, makes no network requests on its operational path, and does not collect any information about you or your food choices.

This policy explains what data the app touches locally, what Apple handles on our behalf, and how to contact us with questions.

2. Data we do not collect

Zukr does not collect, process, or transmit:

  • Camera images or video frames — they are processed in memory and immediately discarded
  • Food ingredients, scan results, or dietary information
  • Location data
  • Device identifiers, advertising identifiers, or IP addresses
  • Usage analytics, crash reports, or performance telemetry
  • Names, email addresses, or any other contact information

Because we collect nothing, there is nothing to sell, share, or disclose to third parties.

3. Camera access

Zukr requests access to your device's camera solely to read food labels in real time. Camera frames are passed directly to Apple's on-device Vision framework for text recognition. No frame is written to disk, no screenshot is uploaded, and no image ever leaves your phone as part of normal operation.

When you choose to share a result using the in-app share sheet, an annotated image is composed on your device and handed directly to the iOS share sheet. That image goes only where you choose to send it — Zukr does not receive or store a copy.

4. Local storage

Zukr stores a small amount of data locally on your device only:

  • Keychain — the date of your first app launch, stored as an opaque number, used solely to calculate whether your 7-day free trial is still active. This data never leaves your device.
  • UserDefaults — a single boolean flag that records whether you have already seen the trial welcome screen. Nothing else.

No other data is written to your device's storage by Zukr.

5. In-app purchases

Purchases are processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit. Zukr never receives, stores, or has access to your payment method, billing address, Apple ID, or any other purchase-related personal information. Apple's handling of your purchase data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

6. Third-party services

Zukr contains no third-party SDKs, no analytics frameworks, no advertising networks, and no crash-reporting libraries. The only external dependency used at runtime is Apple's own Vision framework, which runs entirely on-device.

7. Children's privacy

Because Zukr collects no personal data from anyone, it presents no additional risk to children. The app does not knowingly collect information from users of any age.

8. Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page. Because we collect no personal data, material changes are unlikely — but if the app's data practices ever change, we will update this page to reflect them accurately before the change takes effect.
